I’ve been trying to figure out how to keep the colors in the picture consistent throughout the entire panoramic. So far, as before, no luck. I should get a tripod and probably ask someone who knows how to do this sort of thing.

Jump on the band wagon

To “jump on the band wagon” means to join a movement only once it has proved to be successful; it is often used to describe someone as being opportunistic.

P.T Barnum

P.T Barnum

This phrase originated during the mid 19th century and comes to us from the circus world. A “band wagon” was literally a wagon that carried a circus band. It was first used in print in 1855 by Phineas T. Barnum (a.k.a P.T Barnum, of Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey Circus) in his aptly-titled autobiography The Life of P.T. Barnum, Written by Himself. He writes “At Vicksburg we sold all our land conveyances excepting four horses and the ‘band wagon’.”

The financial security of a circus is inherently linked to how many people buy tickets. To drum up customers, the carnies would stage parades at all the cities in which the circus played. The circus band would parade through town on highly decorated band-wagons. As they moved through the streets people would literally jump on the band wagon and ride it to the circus. Politicians began using bandwagons during campaigns to gain popularity.

The phrase had transitioned from a literal meaning of jumping on a politicians actual bandwagon, to a more metaphorical one by the 1890’s.  Teddy Roosevelt referenced the phrase in his Letters, 1899 (published 1951) when he said “When I once became sure of one majority they tumbled over each other to get aboard the band wagon.”

New Karate Kid Movie Will Suck Ass

lame./

lame.

Nothing is sacred, my friends. It would be pointless for me to go on a rant about how Hollywood has no creativity. The only thing that’s left for them is to recycle movies from the past. That would be pointless because you already know what. If you didn’t know that, then you do now.

stupid.

stupid.

TrailerAddict.com has the first trailer for the remake of the classic 1984 movie Karate Kid which starred Ralph Macchio, Elizabeth Shue and Pat Morita. This time Will Smith’s son Jaden (who sounds just like Will Smith) will star as Dre Parker (the Daniel Larusso character) and Jackie Chan will play the unassuming karate master Mr. Han (Mr. Miyagi). This is blasphemy. In the new movie, Dre and his mom move to Beijing to begin a new life. I have no idea what would motivate a mother to move her son to a country run by a communist dictatorship. Why can’t they just move from New Jersey to Reseda, like in the original?

There’s so much that’s already wrong with this. I’m officially boycotting it. So should you. They’re destroying everything awesome about the original movie. Instead of “wax on, wax off” it’s “take off your jacket, put your jacket back on”. Seriously? Are they going to take out the best line in the whole movie? “Sweep the leg, Johnny!” Maybe at the end of the remake everyone will be friends and no one will get hurt.

I would like to go on record as stating that this is dangerously close to my last straw. If a remake/reboot of Back to the Future comes out I will boycott all movies…period. I don’t care if the Coen brothers do a Big Lebowski 2 (which they wouldn’t). After Hollywood remakes/reboots Back to the Future I am cashing out. All done! No more! Not a penny more of my money will go to purchasing movie tickets.
